Something else you can do to broaden your outlook is to make sure you are very well informed about what is going on around you. It stands to reason that, doesn’t it, that the person who is well informed, who knows what is happening in the world, will have a broader outlook a greater understanding than one who’s ignorant of the ways of the world? And one of the simplest and easiest ways of keeping right up-to-date is to read as many newspapers, magazines and journals (both print and online) as you can, and also to listen to the news on radio, online and TV. Obtain as wide a variety of views and opinions as you can.
Then having read your newspaper, don’t just be content with that think about what you have read. Question the validity of the views put forward by the writer or reporter. What other arguments could he have made about the subject in hand, are the conclusions correct and so on?
By starting this process now, you are starting to develop your HABITS OF THINKING. You are beginning to cultivate an inquisitive mind. Start now to lay a firm foundation on which to build, by developing a greater understanding of the world, and a broader outlook.
The Salesperson’s Basic Purpose
What is a Salesperson’s job?
There are two fundamental aspects to every salesperson’s job. First, you are the representative of your company. Wherever you go you are, quite literally, representing the company that employs you. The impression that you personally create amongst your customers whether for good or bad will often be the impression those customers have of the company you work for. Very often, in the eyes of the customers, YOU ARE the company that employs you or work for. So that if you the salesperson, create a bad impression, the customer will think you work for bad company. And equally the reverse applies. If you create a good impression, the customer will also think yours is a good one.
