Supply Chain Components

A basic supply chain, or network, is made up of several different components (or elements) that are linked together by the movement of materials along it. The supply chain will always start and end with the customer. The customer will have the initial requirement for the service or product and the process will end when that service or product is delivered to them.

The typical components of a supply chain include;

• The Customer,
• The Supplier,
• Production / Manufacturer,
• Distributor,
• Retailer

These components all contribute to the flow from the initial requirement to the final product being with the customer.
