Explain the difference between forward and reverse logistics within a supply chain

Logistics - Forward and Reverse

Logistics, as a part of the supply chain process plans, puts in place and controls the efficient and effective flow and storage of goods, service and related information from the point of origin to the point where they are used in order to meet the requirements of the customer.

Forward Logistics

The supply chain is designed to move goods, services and information down towards the customer.

Materials moving up a supply chain can cause considerable difficulties when the supply chain is designed to move goods downstream to the customer. The term closed-loop supply chain refers to supply chains that comprise of reverse flows and are designed to control and operate a system that maximises value over the life cycle of a product with recovery of value from different types, and volumes of returns over time.
